The Royal Automobile Club of Egypt (ATCE) – 1924 .. After World War I, the idea of establishing an automobile club resurfaced in the early 1920s, as cars became increasingly popular in Egypt. Serious efforts to revive the club began in 1920, led by automobile enthusiasts, including Mr. Alex Comanos, who later became the club’s director. Before the official establishment, royal approval from King Fuad was required. The king supported the idea and granted the club a royal title, naming it the “Royal Automobile Club of Egypt”.The club was officially founded on April 27, 1924, at its current location on Kasr El Nil Street, in a building gifted by Princess Fatma Ismail, daughter of Khedive Ismail.
Automobile Club of Egypt – (ATCE) dates back to the year 1905 and was one of the founding members of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) in 1922. The Egyptian club is considered one of the most prominent and oldest automobile clubs in the world, with much of its establishment credited to the support of the French Automobile Club.
The club was founded under the patronage of Khedive Abbas Helmy II, who ruled Egypt from 1892 to 1914. Its first headquarters was located at 25 El-Madabegh Street, known today as Sherif Street.

Services of the Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt
International Driving Permit
Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt (atce) is the only officially authorized entity to issue the International Driving Permit (IDP) within the Arab Republic of Egypt, in accordance with traffic laws and international agreements.
Social, Cultural, and Travel Committees
The club organizes cultural and social events such as parties, exhibitions, and experience-sharing gatherings among members. These activities aim to strengthen the bonds between members and contribute to creating a unique social environment.
Customs Transit Documents
Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt - (atce) is the only officially authorized entity to issue Carnet de Passage (triptyque) documents within the Arab Republic of Egypt. These documents are issued to Egyptians and resident foreigners when traveling abroad, as the club is a member of the Alliance Internationale de Tourisme and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (AIT/FIA).
Automobile Competitions
Towards a Professional Future for Motorsport in Egypt .. The Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt – as the official entity accredited by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) – oversees the organization and development of all motorsport and motorcycle racing activities in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
